one of the first ever features on y's for men, captured in the year of its launch. the label was conceived upon the idea of 'clothing that compliments a woman wearing y's', enabling a man to look his best when next to her. it is then interesting to note that these pages were published in ryuko tsushin, which mostly centered around women's fashions and lifestyle. photographed by longtime yohji collaborator kazumi kurigami.
bonus page with coverage of the autumn / winter 1979 tokyo collections, featuring the latest y's (top) and comme des garçons (middle) shows.

A Man's Clothes Wrinkles, they bother me a little. Like the growth rings of life, the relationship between the deep wrinkles on a man's face and the wrinkles of the clothes that he has made his alter ego is a reflection of human physiology itself. Each wrinkle tells the story of a man's life and should not be disregarded. All products / Y's for men
May 29th ∙ Y's (Yamamoto Yohji)
The designer pays meticulous attention to materials. A series of works in pure white and navy wool gabardine exhibit the beautiful expressions inherent in the fabric. However, achieving a well-balanced look with voluminous tweed coats and short ankle-length pants seems challenging.
May 30th ∙ Comme des Garçons (Kawakubo Rei)
Subdued colors such as navy, gray, and burgundy. Aside from tartan and argyle checks, the collection is primarily single toned. The clothing is evocative of soft military influences reminiscent of uniforms. This expressionless mood seems to possess an enigmatic atmosphere that may even subdue the wearer's individuality.
