ww2 united states air force flight suit in heavy cotton twill. features dropped shoulders, double zip front with storm guard, adjustable waist straps, diagonal chest pockets, dual entry side pockets, two sets of lower cargo pockets, left sleeve pen pockets, eyelet ventilated armpits, zip adjustable bottom hem, pleated cuffs with a gusseted placket, back shoulder darts, and a pleated back waist. unlined interior with fully finished seams throughout.

an exceptionally rare piece from the ‘90s. a reproduction of the l-1 flight suit which was deployed towards the end of world war 2, and subsequently saw brief action before being replaced by the lighterweight l1-a and l1-b models. unlike the military original, this piece is fabricated in a heavy duty cotton twill with robust construction and depth of color that has aged exceptionally. staying true to heritage, utilitarian details have been left intact with even the brass toned zippers emulating the shape of the talon zips found on the original. it is the cut where the yohji signature can be seen, with a generous yet streamlined straight silhouette that is accentuated by a voluminous sleeve. in styling this piece works well under heavier coats or jackets, just as the air force wore them. this effectively makes them just look like a pair of pants, with subdued yet striking detailing. at 185cm / 6 ft tall with a 32 inch inseam, the back rise rides up on me a little with the legs hitting ankle length, so I would recommend this for those that aren’t as tall. proportions are that of a medium.
