Le Mont-dore, glowing even redder in the sunset. A 40 minute drive from Nouméa. All of New Caledonia appears reddish-brown. The reason behind this mystery lies in its nickel ore. This small island rose to global fame thanks to its heavenly nature — and its nickel. Even today, red smoke continues to rise without pause from the factories.

Small bell-shaped buttons that make a faint sound with each step were used as decorations — on the dress, socks, and shoes (Comme des Garçons)

Mato, an uninhabited island you can walk around in about 20 minutes. Just for today, it’s my island. In the blue sea of Melanesia, countless islands are scattered. The tiny, nameless ones— you get to be the one who names them. Seagulls fly comfortably over the islands. With no one else around, I took the plunge and went for a swim. Until my skin turned bright red from the sun.

The cool, pleasant touch of the linen knit features a delicate openwork pattern. It’s paired with generously cut pants.

Passion, confidence, sensitivity, anxiety… Terada Minoru gives us a glimpse of such youthful emotions, intertwined with the sea breeze. On him, garments rooted in time-worn tradition — worn freely, apart from their conventional rules — suit him well in what might be called an “off-traditional” style.

Summer Coats That Create a Refreshing Image

As we enter the season where simple styling with shirts and T-shirts becomes the norm, coats — freed from their original purpose of keeping warm — will be added to wardrobes more for their fashion appeal than practicality. In such coats, the feeling of refreshment that the fabric conveys plays a key role in defining their character. The styling should always evoke a sense of coolness.

When we talk about “texture,” we’re really referring to a feeling — something difficult to express in words. But a key element is that both the look and the comfort of the garment are “comfortable.” This word is often used for womenswear, but in fact, it’s something fundamentally built into men’s clothing. Recently, fabrics have become more enjoyable — there are plenty of great-feeling garments made not only from natural materials but also from high-quality synthetics. However, one thing that must never be forgotten, in any case, is simple design. That’s where a true sense of good material begins.

In the midst of harsh light, a quiet gentleness within...

People talk about dressing freely, but when it comes to menswear, even if not strictly traditional, there are certain established norms — making it difficult to dress in a relaxed way. However, with the emergence of new materials, it’s become possible to change the feeling of styling even when using the same traditional silhouettes. The “Cuir Nouveau” material Sofrina offers more freedom in how it's combined with other materials, and it comes in a wider range of colors than natural leather. In this sense too, it greatly expands its possibilities for application. It is a new material full of potential for freedom.
