A/W 98 Garment Dyed Mink Collar Half Coat Brown

$850 CAD

Garment dyed half coat in heavyweight wool gabardine. Features a detachable mink collar, double hook neck closures, rounded patch pockets, and inner chest pockets. Fully lined in iridescent wool cotton.

A standout piece from Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Autumn / Winter 1998 which featured an all-female cast of models including Vivienne Westwood and Charlotte Rampling. Regarded as one of Yohji's best collections for menswear, the collection is marked by luscious woolen fabrics in deep earth tones accentuated with dramatic use of fur.

Absolutely outstanding level of quality that you simply cannot see today. The body is a heavyweight wool gabardine, slightly softened by the garment dye treatment and aged to perfection. Deep tonality with a living, breathing sensibility that can be expected to change slowly with time. The genuine mink collar is so soft that it's almost imperceptible to the fingertips - the hairs are so light it feels like touching air. Impeccable, straightforward cut with oversized proportions - a rounded drop shoulder and straight, boxy lines with a sweeping sense of ease. The lining is cut from a slightly iridescent cotton wool of such fine quality that it could be used for outer garments. It's slightly scratchy with a beautiful organic texture that elevates the luxurious feel of the garment even further. The horn buttons are particularly beautiful with slight warping and varying expressions of colors from the garment dye treatment.
